Mohicans vs. Seminoles

(August 9th and 12th)  Keith McCotter, Mohicans Coach

The two outstanding games that took place this week between the Seminoles and the Mohicans showed us what summer softball is all about. In Thursday’s game, the Seminoles struck first scoring a huge 7-1 lead after Steve Castiglione’s grand slam over the right field wall. The Mohicans then came back to win 10-9 by putting some hits together on offense, playing with solid defense and great pitching by Alex Peslak. Sunday morning’s game was filled with highlights and lots of fun as well. The lead went back and forth with each team having its share of rallies. For the Seminoles, Sean Boasi and Dave Hering had inside-the-park home runs and Steve hit two homers over the right field fence. The Mohicans won 15 – 11 after they started hitting base hits and doubles all over the field. The Mohican players decided to give the game ball to John Wayne Wisniewski for his team spirit and shear offensive power.

But the ESPY goes to Tim Puzio for his two incredible diving catches that each time had the players and fans cheering wildly. Both teams and umpires should also be congratulated for completing two hotly contested games without so much as an argued call. Thanks to the parents and volunteers for showing excellent sportsmanship.

This league will play regularly scheduled games on Monday and Friday evenings at field 2.  Please check the schedule for the dates of your team's games!  Any necessary make-up games will take place on Saturday mornings; check with your coach or call the hotline for info.  The new players have been drafted and coaches should be calling their players to practice.  If you are interested in playing and have not yet signed up, please contact me or one of the coaches as soon as possible so we can put you on a team!  Players who turn 18 before July 1 are not permitted to play in the Little League. ADULT UMPIRES ARE STILL DESPERATELY NEEDED FOR THIS LEAGUE!  (Friday Night Games)

******Please note there has been a schedule change to the Boys’ Little League (ages 12-17). The games have been changed to Tuesday and Thursday evenings at 6PM at Field two. The change was necessary to help balance the athletic schedules of the players. We can’t play without you! The coaches will be contacting their players to remind them of the change. Also, due to the coaches’ choice Invitational on Thursday, August 2, 2007, the game scheduled for August 2 will be played on Saturday, August 4 at 10AM, at Field 2. Thanks for the teamwork coaches!
