Summer Clubhouse Activities 2008

- Basic List-

Munchkins:

All toddlers are welcome to join in Munchkin festivities.  They will be kept moving with a variety of activities geared towards their age.  Activities may include songs, games, arts and crafts, and snacks.  Parents must accompany their children and older siblings are welcome to help.

Arts-n-Crafts:

Children will be able to expand their artistic abilities with a variety of media.  Different craft projects each week appeal to all age groups.  Check the weekly Newsette or the clubhouse activities board for fun weekly activities

Sports Mania:

If you like sports, enjoy playing, or just want to run around, come down for Sports Mania.  Kickball, Dodge ball, and Ultimate Frisbee to come!

Blue Jeans:

Older kids are able to try more advanced craft projects during this HLCC favorite.

Picture BINGO, Story Time, Arts and Crafts

These half hour activities are back to back on Wednesday mornings.  Picture Bingo, a longtime favorite, will be held in the Lake Room; Story Time, where Mrs. Deming will captivate listeners with her stories, will be held in the Lake Room; and Arts and Crafts, where children can make a craft, will be held in the Craft Room.  Adults are encouraged to participate with their children.

Kids Can Cook:

It is summer.  You are hungry…  Come down to the clubhouse and see what’s cookin’. Please sign up (at the Activities Center) before Wednesday morning so we have an idea of how many chefs will participate. 

Bingo:

Come play BINGO and win prizes! (Make sure you check out our updated prizes)

Sewing:

Join the expert volunteers in the Lake Room as they share their sewing knowledge and skill.  All (10+) are welcome!

Movie Night:

The G or PG movie selection for the week will be posted at least a day in advance.  Watch the Newsette or clubhouse activities board and postings for the movie night or “theme” movie nights scheduled.  The snack bar will be open and you are welcome to bring snacks from home.

Adventure Club:

Try this activity if you like exploring, science, nature, building something different!

Mad Science:
Do you like getting messy or seeing how things really work…Come to the Clubhouse and check it out.

Pool Room Hours:

Check the Newsette for junior and open Pool Room hours.

We are currently seeking out those individuals who have a unique ability to have fun with kids!  See Sue at the clubhouse or call 973-764-4366.

Winter Clubhouse Activities

- Basic List-

The winter activities listed below serve as a guide and attest to the fullness of the activities and hard work of the Clubhouse Committee and the Volunteers of Highland Lakes who run them:

Family Movie Night Friday evening Family Movie Night . Movie ratings for the Friday night Family Movie series will always be G or PG.

Playgroup/Under 5 Gang meet on Monday and Friday mornings from 10 AM to Noon, gathering for pre-school social time, a snack, a craft, a storytime and free time.
Tuesday and Friday Crafters/Tiles/Cards is a group of members who gather year round in our Lake Room at 1 PM on both Tuesday and Friday afternoons to socialize while working on craft projects, playing games, tiles or cards. Mahjong is also becoming a popular game among members of this group.
Morning Video Exercise meets on Wednesday and Friday mornings to move to video exercise tapes at 9 AM while enjoying the company of other members on a social basis.
Bridge Group meets on Monday and Friday at the Eckharts' residence on West Lakeshore Drive. Contract and Duplicate bridge are played.

Bunco Night is a dice game with no skill involved - it's all luck and the roll of the dice.
We need a minimum of 12 ladies to play so you must make a reservation
Mah Jongg  If you know how to play Mah-Jongg and you're interested in a regular game, we'd love to have you join us.
Red Hat Society Wanted: women over 50 who like to have fun.  An exciting new event is being added to our list of long standing ones. A Highland Lakes Country Club Red Hat Society has formed.

Safe Halloween Party is just that a  Safe Halloween Party at Clubhouse  Get ready for a grand time with your kids 12 and under!

The Lakeside Cafe has been extremely popular since its inception in the 90's. Volunteer members gather to perform their musical talents at an open mic forum and invite non-musical members to come to enjoy these performances. This takes place on the third Saturday of each month.
The Senior Club which was started due to a burgeoning of senior Citizens. It has grown to a flourishing organization. Meetings are held on the second and fourth Tuesday of May through September, combining a social gathering with business and local area concerns. In October, November and December the group meets during the afternoon once during the month. On occasion, speakers are invited to inform the seniors about issues of concern. The Seniors coordinate bus trips and tours, conduct a dinner/dance theme gala and visit one of the better area bistros for a season end luncheon.
The Teen Council is a year-round activity for the teen and pre-teens of the community. Organizational meetings are held on Sunday evenings at 7PM. This group has been instrumental in bringing to life the Haunted Clubhouse, the Annual Craft Fair, the St. Patrick's Day Family Dinner and much more.
Other sample fall/winter activities include: Billiards, Family Movies, Kid's Cooking, New Year's Eve Bash, Superbowl Party, Basket Bingo, Easter Event, Adult Halloween Dance, Athletics Dance, Children's Safe Halloween Event, and the Holiday Lighting. Ice sports are also enjoyed weather permitting.
