The Lakeside Café has, with rare exception, been presenting the community with live music every 3rd Saturday of each month since October of 1997. An open invitation is extended by the volunteers who organize the show to members and their guests to come down to the lakeroom and either perform or just sit back and relax and listen to some music.

One of the great things about the open mic format is you never know exactly what you will hear each month. During the past 7 years we've seen all levels of talent and heard many different types of music.

Although the basic format of the open mic seems to remain the same each month, situations change, and except for a steady few, volunteers have come and gone. Recently we've asked for volunteers to host an evening. If you're interested let us know. In exchange for introducing each act and keeping the audience involved you will open the evening with a short set and have time during the nite for another. You don't have to perform to host.

SIGN UPS ARE NOT THE

ORDER OF APPEARENCE.

A limit of 3 or 4 songs per act (may vary according to number of performers). We ask that performers be able to control their volume according to the room. We don't want to clear the room because the volume is unbearable.

On the other hand we ask the audience be courteous and keep conversation to a minimum during each act.

 

Coffee and tea provided… bring something for the “community coffee table” or bring your own snacks for your table.

CAFÉ SPECIALS… have been presented in the past. These are professional acts presented for members and their guests usually on a Friday or Saturday night. We price the tickets to cover the expense of the show and try to keep the price of each ticket as low as possible. Unfortunately community response to these shows has not been strong so we've cut back on bookings.

In the past the Lakeside Café Specials have included Karen Savoka, The Nields, Cliff Eberhart, Don Ross , Slaid Cleaves, Lucy Kaplansky, The Kennedys, not to mention a jazz brunch and an evening with jazz guitarist Bucky Pizzarelli.

Don Ross, one of the founders of the Lakeside Cafe passed away on Thursday, March 24, 2005.  He was a integral part of the Committee over the years and will be sorely missed.

His music lives on in our hearts and memories and were recorded on his CD - "All in Good Time".  Goodbye and Rest in Peace our good friend...
