HL Ladies Golf Outing: Thank You Lorry!

Sue Foley Buruchian

Just a special thank you to Lorry Kibilewski for running such a special 39th year of the HL Ladies Golf Outing. From arranging for us to play at Great Gorge and letting us all experience “a big girls course” to the fabulous awards and luncheon, the day was terrific.  It was a great time had by all.

Also thank you to all the woman who play and support ladies golf yearly to keep this tradition going.  It is always a fabulous day off from the daily routine.

Congratulations to Diane “hit it long” Kelly who showed us how to really play the game of golf.  We look forward to a fabulous 40th Annual HL Ladies Golf Outing next August.

38th Ladies' Golf Outing Recap

Betty Lynch

The 38th annual HLCC Ladies' Golf Outing was a huge success with 44 ladies participating.

The winner of the Foley Cup this year was Lorry Kibitlewski with a low gross score of 44. We had a tie for 1st place and the winner was Anne Fatz from Warwick. We also had a tie for low net between Mary Jane Kresic, who took first,

and Mary Ann Gunning, who won second prize.

I especially want to thank the members of my "Committee": Dolores Gaspar, Liz Holda, Lorry Kibitlewski, Pat Sandholm, and Cathy Tansey. Their contribution of many of the prizes and tireless efforts in organizing the event were what made the even such a success.

A special thank you goes to Jeffrey Gaspari for donating many of the prizes from his company Anheuser-Busch.

Also, a very special thank you goes to the McNulty family, Pat and Joanne, for computerizing our scoring; Pat and Ginny, for spending the time at Minerals computing the scores (Ginny almost missed lunch)!

The raffle was a great success. We were able to present the Club with a check for the Goodwill Fund.

We were so pleased with the number of beginner golfers who joining us and hope they continue to come!

Thanks to the Club Office Staff for their assistance.

All golfers (and would be golfers) mark you calendars for the 2nd Tuesday in August 2007,

when Lorry Kibitlewski will run the outing and defends her title!

August, 2005

The 37th annual HLCC Ladies Golf Outing was a terrific success. There were so many great prizes and raffles due to the generous donations from Club members Tressa and George Kabbez, owners of the Salty Dog Restaurant in Bay Ridge, Brooklyn. They donated golf bags, coolers, backpack chairs, shirts, golf towels, a popcorn machine and much more.
This year the winner of the Foley Cup was Betty Lynch, with a low gross score of 41. Low net was won by Diane Kelly with a score of 34. The "closest to the pin" contest was won by Judy Fortenbach. The "longest drive" was won by Sue Buruchian, with a beautiful drive down the center of the fairway.
A number of first time golfers joined us this year and the "Most Determined New Golfer" was awarded to Erin Runfola.
This year we added a "Team Ball" contest, which was won by the impressive foursome of Cathy Corbutt Brennan, Irene Boeren, Diane Kelly, and Paula Kloza. Nice job ladies!
Rumor has it that there were "creative strategies" employed by some other teams to prevent losing the precious pink ball! Overall, it was a fun day followed by a delicious lunch at Crystal Springs.
Special thanks to Fran Rumsey for her assistance with the program, and for taking care of my children while I was on the golf course!
Thanks to the Club Office staff of Lisa Ebers, Pat Krause, and Marguerite O'Brien, for their administrative assistance.
Last, but not least, many thanks and love to my mom, Theresa Deady and my sister, Tressa Kabbez, for your enthusiasm, your fun-loving attitude and for the immeasurable ways that you supported me.

All golfers (and would be golfers), mark your calendar for the 2nd Tuesday in August, 2006, when Betty Lynch runs the outing and defends her title!

Ladies Golf Outing   2004
August 10, 2004
Jo Anne “Monsoon” Poppe

It was a bright and sunny morning as 26 enthusiastic golfers took to the course for 9 holes of fun and friendly competition at Minerals on Tuesday Morning! Aha did you see that not only the sun was shining but the moon stayed out as well ! A good time was had by all and some played an excellent round of golf! Only to be followed by a delicious lunch and goodies at Wild Turkry or if your prefer - Crystal Springs!

This years Cup winner was Maryann Gunning with Low Gross and a wonderful round at 39! WOW what a golfer! Low Net Diane Kelly & Bette Lynch ( a tie), Closest to the pin, Cathy Tansey WOW! very close! Longest Drive was Maryann Gunning and Most Honest Player was none other than Patti Thompson (keep practicing)!

Thank you to Trish for her help with articles and faxing. Thanks to Margueritte for taking the checks and questions and Thanks to Pat for helping negotiate the funds! A special Thank You to Sue Buruchian who helped me organize this along the way and who provided the history of the Ladies Golf Outing as her father provided the Silver Cup way back when so the Ladies of Highland Lakes would have “equal time” to the men when it came to golf! Thank goodness it did not rain and my name did not get pulled out of the hat again- we all know my golf is mediocre! And Maryann - HAHA this is what you get for rooting for my name to get called last year!

To all the ladies of the course - it is a pleasure to golf with you and stay healty until next year. To those of you who did not join us this year - we will drag you out on the links in 2005!!
